I’m Sooner Born and Sooner Bred…
Allen October 5th, 2005
My wife and I were at the OU vs KSU game when the bomb explosive device went off. We sit in section 106 and not only heard but felt the explosion. We called my parents to see if there was any note of the explosion on the TV news and also called my son and daughter to let them know we were OK.
The people next to us called their friend in the police department and told us what had happened. I remarked to my wife that we were going to take our own sweet time leaving the stadium until the crowds died down.
Several thoughts keep blowing through my mind:
- Attention President Boren: We got it. Really, we do. We understand that "at no time was anyone in the stadium in any danger." If you keep being so shrill about it, we might begin to think otherwise.
- Everyone keeps refering to the "explosive device". If it isn’t a bomb, but rather an "explosive device", then should we refer to Hinrichs as a "suicide explosive devicer"?
- If I ever did decide to kill myself, I’m not quite sure I would want to take the time to assemble the components of a
bombexplosive device. Just seems like overkill to me. - But if I ever did want to kill myself and others, I would want to take that time.
- Speaking of which, if his sole intent was only to kill himself, the term "suicide bomber" is an apt term. What then do we call those who kill themselves with a bomb with the intent of harming others. I think Michael Yon has an excellent term — mass murderers.
- Charles at Dustbury has a wicked sense of humor. And led me to the thought that we may have witnessed the world’s first "Sooner Boomer".
- Sorry about that last one.

Good to hear you and your family are safe… funny how so many Okie bloggers were at the game (well not really I guess considering how large Sooner nation is).
I was kinda scared at first but now I’m mad at the lack of information that is being given here (Tulsa). Seems like the OKC stations are doing a good job though.
