Come To Frontier City!

Come to Frontier City for the Fun!
And stay for the great rides! Get the #@$% out of here. Why are you bugging us?

My mother-in-law took my daughter and niece to Frontier City yesterday afternoon for a day of fun.  It was pretty fun until Frontier City decided that they weren’t making enough money and closed the park early (at 5:00pm).  Given that they had arrived at around 2:30 and were planning to stay until closing (at 8:00pm), the campers were not happy.

After my mother-in-law complained, they gave her tickets to come back another day.  But the problem is the extra time and effort needed to come back another day.  My niece lives in Tulsa, so this is not an easy trip to make just to attend Frontier City.

Large groups of people filing out into the parking lot were not happy either.  Of course, most of them didn’t complain and didn’t receive free tickets in recompense.  Quite a few of them were from out of state and couldn’t come back even if they did have free tickets.

Now granted, businesses are not in business to "serve the greater good" or "keep people happily employed" or even "delight the customer".  They are in business to make money.

But something tells me they just lost a lot of goodwill in their customer base.  For a company whose way of making money is to provide enteritainment, this was a short-sighted decision.  Perhaps they saved money for that one day, but it will cost them much more in the long run.

So, in conclusion, it’s good to see that Frontier City is managed with the same clarity and foresight that seems to drive most businesses today.

<sigh>

    Keeping tabs on the blogosphere II

    Once again I’ve gone overboard opening new tabs in Mozilla, but my excess is your gain, dear reader. Some items of note, in no particular order: Allen of Acorns from an Okie reports that Frontier City closed three hours early on Tuesday for no apparent…

    The problem with Frontier City (Oklahoma City)is the same with
    Bell’s Amusement Park (Tulsa on 21 Street) is their rides are desperately older and boring to the average teenager and older that are used to
    going to Six Flags, World’s of Fun, Disneyworld. Even though these amusement parks are considered convenient to the younger moms and dads that have small children, if you have teenagers are won’t better rides with newer attractions, teenagers and families will definitely make the drive especially in the summer to go to much better amusement parks. They should realize it too, but I have had teens that had to go to Frontier City in the 7th grade (they are now older) and they complained they were bored out of their mind because the rides were boring. We have been to all the above parks
    and all close Disneyworld resorts at Disneyworld where the convenience of staying in a gorgeous resort and practically if you are a Gold Card Member you have the convenience of staying extra late and getting in before and after the crowds are allowed to be at the park. Gold Card privileges at Disneyworld can buy you many convenient privileges and get you in first to their many delicious restaurants that are in the resorts. If you have been to Disneyworld, it’s best to eat in the resorts if you have the cash to do so.

    The problem with Frontier City (Oklahoma City)is the same with (AMUSEMENT PARKS IN OUR OWN TULSA OKLAHOMA AREA)
    Bell’s Amusement Park (Tulsa on 21 Street) is their rides are desperately older and boring to the average teenager and older that are used to
    going to Six Flags, World’s of Fun, Disneyworld. Even though these amusement parks are considered convenient to the younger moms and dads that have small children, if you have teenagers AND KNOW BETTER AND HAVE EXPERIENCED BETTER AMUSEMENT PARKS (kinda like cities that are run with better management!–had to plug that one in!!) (yes there are many businesses we could bring to the Tulsa Oklahoma area if we just had the people in management that knew what to bring here and ability to know how to do it) (I personally have written Wal-Mart and got them to build at the 9lst and Memorial site — I have the letter from the President of WalMart thanking me, I wrote to McDonald’s myself and asked them to build across from WalMart–they did and I later asked them to build in Bixby and yes they did! Both are successful locations! I wrote to Wendy’s and asked them to build close to those and they did (81 location). I wrote to Chick Filet and asked them to please build a restaurant where we don’t have to walk all the way into the mall and to build it on 7lst street (they need help in deciding where to build if you are following what I am saying since the people in high management in these restaurants do not live here to know what’s best — once again they responded to me and while they prefer malls they took my big vote and did build on 7lst street and they are busy everytime I drive by there and have been extremely successful in allowing customers to let the management know what they need and not doing the government style method in bringing in political favors to fill job positions and have needless things in our area we don’t need (gambling!!) and bring in decent high tech companies instead of focusing on an extremely expensive arena that helps the land value of Tulsa World which gives them tons of publicity usually on the front page of the newspaper too) better rides with newer attractions, teenagers and families will definitely make the drive especially in the summer to go to much better amusement parks. They should realize it too, but I have had teens that had to go to Frontier City in the 7th grade (they are now older) and they complained they were bored out of their mind because the rides were boring.
