Productive and Unproductive Day Today

Allen December 28th, 2004

We spent Sunday celebrating Christmas with my wife’s family — they delay Christmas until the 26th, when my brother-in-law celebrates his birthday.

Monday was "get ready for church event" day where my wife and son prepared for going out to St. Chrispin’s for a church event.  We scrambled around running errands and doing various "domestic" activities.

So today they left and my daughter and I were going to spend part of the day cleaning around the house and I was going to spend part of the day working on my weblog.

HA!

My wife called around 11:00 am to say that my son had forgot his guitar and they needed for me to run it out to camp.  With one thing and another, I didn’t get to work on my weblog (until right now).  So the day was unproductive.

However, on a lark, I turned right out of St. Crispin’s and drove down to Krebs, OK.  It is a small town outside McAlester that has about 3-4 excellent Italian restaurants and groceries.  It is well known regionally.  After spending so many years telling my daughter about now nice Pete’s Place (and other restaurants) are, she finally got to have a fine meal at Pete’s with her dear old dad.

Spent the ride home playing 20 questions with the subject constrained to movie characters.  The only one she didn’t get was Lampwick from Pinocchio.

So it was a nice day out with my daughter — a productive day by any measure.

What a wonderful experience with your daughter. My girl is 14. Some days I’m her best friend. Other times, in her eyes I’m satan. Enjoy ‘em while you can!
